Are you creative?

Are you creative? And does it matter either way?

Could you get creative in an art room?

Surely some people are creative and some people aren’t. Right? Well, I think we get mixed up with artistic ability here and all that we were taught at school. We are all creative, artistic maybe. Often we were told somewhere along the line that we were no good at art because we couldn’t draw realistically. That’s such a small part of art anyway, to be admired, but really such a small part. And that’s not what we’re talking about here. Creativity is the ability to be imaginative, to use more than our brains to respond and process the world. Without it we have less vision and miss out on creative self care. I came across this lovely quote on from Mina Murray on www.artjournalist.com: “Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time.” Rather like having a best friend who will listen and be supportive but then, through the creative process in art journaling, gives a fresh perspective. Try it, you might be surprised.
